1.1 preparing for a bicycle tour

the big idea

Big Idea: Observation and description of changes in the world around us are the first steps in finding and learning about patterns.

Essential question:
What are some variables around us?
notes:
1. Intervals on graphs are always the same.
2. Variables can always change.

1.1 Preparing For A Bicycle Tour

Five friends wanted to start a bicycle tour group business for kids, families and schools. They decided to take a way from Philadelphia to Virginia and trying to find out how far a average rider could bike for a day.

We did an experiment in are class about jumping jacks (jj) we jumped 2 min and counted how many you did in that time.

Follow up 1.1

1. How did you jumping jack rate (the number of jumping jacks per second) change as time passed? How is this shown in your table?

My (jj) rate was the same the whole time and i dident have any changes. The table showed that my (JJ) was stable.

2. What might this pattern suggest about how bike-riding speed would change over a day's time on the bicycle tour?

My table shows that some people keep the same speed the whole day while some other people would get tired and slow down.
